The difference

No app. That is the whole point.

Most leveling gadgets make you install an app, create an account, and pair over Bluetooth. This one serves a web page from the device itself. Anything with a browser can read it.

📱

Nothing to install

Connect to the unit's Wi-Fi and the level page opens. Works on iPhone, Android, tablets, even a laptop.

👥

Two people, two screens

Whoever is turning the jack and whoever is watching can both have the reading open at the same time.

📶

Works with no signal

The unit is its own access point. Deep in a forest or a car park with no bars, it behaves exactly the same.

🔒

Still works in five years

No app store, no forced updates, no account that can be shut down. It is a web page on a box you own.

How it works

Three steps, about a minute.

Once it is mounted, this is the whole routine every time you arrive at a site.

1
Plug it in
Any 5 V USB source — the socket in your trailer, or a power bank. The unit boots in a few seconds. A cable is included.
2
Join its Wi-Fi
Pick the unit's network on your phone. The level screen opens by itself. No app, no login, no pairing.
3
Watch while you level
Work the jacks or drive onto the ramps while the bubble and the numbers update live. Green means level.
Levelling a real trailer with the phone propped next to the hitch.
Details

Built around the things that actually go wrong.

🎯
0.1° resolution
Pitch and roll, updated live over a websocket. Fine enough to chase the last half degree out of an absorption fridge.
⚖
Two-point calibration
Mount it crooked and it does not matter. A one-minute routine cancels out how the unit happens to sit — and you do not need a level surface to do it.
🌡
Temperature compensation
MEMS sensors drift with temperature. The unit records the temperature at calibration and corrects for it — and warns you on screen if it has moved too far.
🔄
Updates over the air
New firmware is pushed from the same web page. No USB cable, no computer, no driver hunting.

Availability

Not quite ready for you yet.

It is on sale in Japan today. Before I ship it abroad there is one thing left to finish — and whether I finish it depends on whether anyone outside Japan actually wants this.

The interface is still Japanese

The unit works perfectly — but the web page it serves to your phone is written in Japanese. Translating it properly is a few days of work, and I am not going to guess whether that is worth doing.

So: tell me you want one. If enough people do, I will translate the interface, work out international shipping, and come back to you first. No payment, no commitment — just say you are interested and which country you are in.

¥8,800 (roughly US$55-60 — the likely price, plus shipping from Japan)

Honest notes

  • Made to order, by hand. Each unit is assembled, flashed, calibrated and tested individually, one at a time. Expect a lead time rather than same-day dispatch.
  • Ships from Japan. Delivery time and any import duty depend on your country. Duty is the buyer's responsibility.
  • It is an aid, not an instrument. Two-point calibration and temperature compensation make it accurate enough to be genuinely useful, but it is not a certified measuring device. Use your own judgement for the final call.
  • Not weatherproof. It lives inside the trailer.
  • Small-batch terms. I cannot take returns for change of mind. If it arrives broken or stops working, tell me and I will sort it out properly.
FAQ

Questions people actually ask.

Does my phone lose internet while I use it?
Yes — while you are joined to the unit's Wi-Fi, that phone is not on the internet. Levelling takes a minute or two, and most phones fall back to mobile data for other apps. If you want to stay online, use a second device to read the level.
Trailer or motorhome?
Both. It measures the attitude of whatever it is mounted to. Caravans, travel trailers, fifth wheels, motorhomes, van conversions — all the same job.
Does it need to be mounted perfectly straight?
No. That is what the two-point calibration is for. Stick it down wherever is convenient and calibrate once.
Can I leave it plugged in all the time?
It is designed to be switched on when you arrive and off when you leave. It is not intended for permanent power or for use while driving.
What if it breaks?
Message me. I built it, so I can fix it or replace it. Firmware problems can usually be solved with an over-the-air update.
Why is it so much cheaper than the big brands?
No retail margin, no packaging design, no marketing budget, no app to maintain. It is one person, a 3D printer, and a soldering iron.

Send me a message with the country you are in.
That is the whole signal I need to decide whether to build the English version.
